WithoutBG API

WithoutBG API is a single-purpose service that strips backgrounds from images through a simple HTTP request.

How to use WithoutBG API

1. Sign up at WithoutBG and copy the personal key from your dashboard.
2. Create a POST request to /remove-bg with the key in the header and an image URL or base64 payload in the body.
3. Add optional parameters such as output size, background colour, or trim settings if required.
4. Send the request and receive a PNG with the background already removed.
5. Save or display the returned file inside your project.

What I noticed while working with WithoutBG API

What works well

• Swift processing: typical responses turned up in under two seconds for 1080 p images during my tests.
• Clean edges: hair, smoke, and semi-transparent areas often look hand-cut even on challenging photos.
• Simple docs: only a few endpoints, each illustrated with cURL, JavaScript, and Python snippets, so I was sending calls in minutes.
• Fair pricing: a 50-image monthly allowance covers light use, while pay-as-you-go bills spare me from long contracts.
• Reliable uptime: a week-long integration run logged zero drops or slowdowns.

What could be better

• No bulk endpoint: images go one by one, adding overhead to large catalogues.
• File-size limit: anything above 10 MB throws an error instead of auto-resizing.
• Colour spill on fur: soft edges around pets sometimes keep a faint halo that needs manual touch-up.
• Missing usage alerts: the dashboard gives totals but no warning emails, so my free quota vanished without notice.
• PNG only: WebP output would slash bandwidth for web delivery.

Despite the gripes, the speed and quality saved me hours of manual masking, so I’ll keep the key handy and hope a bulk route plus WebP support arrive soon.
