4. Add suspicious artefacts to a watchlist so alerts arrive via email or Slack.
5. Export the graph or raw JSON to your SIEM for deeper correlation.

What stood out during our hands-on time

During two weeks of daily work with Talus Network I kept notes on what shone and what grated. Those impressions follow.

Advantages

• Interactive graphs give clarity fast: Clicking around the visual network let me trace command-and-control clusters in seconds instead of trawling separate feeds.
• Rich data sources: Feeds from Spamhaus, CIRCL, and Shodan sit side by side, so I didn’t have to jump between tabs.
• Alerting that respects inboxes: Granular thresholds meant I only received pings when an indicator on my watchlist shifted reputation rather than every minor change.
• Straightforward export options: CSV, STIX, and JSON are only a button away, which made moving information into Splunk painless.
• No installation burden: Everything runs in the browser; my team avoided agent roll-outs or on-prem servers.

Drawbacks

• Search throttling on the free tier: After about twenty queries an hour I had to wait, which interrupted investigations.
• Limited custom field mapping: When I exported STIX objects a few proprietary tags were lost, causing extra manual work.
• Interface feels cramped on small screens: The graph overlaps side panels on a 13-inch laptop unless I collapse widgets.
• No in-product chat support: Questions head to a ticket system, and replies arrived the next day.

Talus Network delivers quick clarity into malicious infrastructure and helps shrink response times, yet the throttling and minor integration snags keep it from being a perfect fit for every analyst. Teams that live in the browser and crave visual links will find solid value, while organisations needing unlimited querying or bespoke field mapping might weigh the paid plans or alternative tools.
