How to use Storyboard Hero

1. Sign up at Storyboard Hero and open a new project.
2. Paste your script or jot down scene notes inside the editor.
3. Pick a visual style, choose aspect ratio, then hit “Generate”.
4. Review the AI-created frames, tweak captions, swap images, or reorder shots as needed.
5. Export the finished board as PDF, PNG sequence, or shareable link for team feedback.

What we found while working with Storyboard Hero

Advantages

• Rapid frame generation: Our five-page script turned into a full board in under two minutes, saving the half-day we usually spend blocking scenes by hand.
• Clean drag-and-drop editor: Rearranging panels felt similar to moving slides in a deck, so no steep learning curve.
• Custom style prompts: Typing “1970s detective drama, muted colours” delivered artwork that actually matched the vibe rather than generic clip-art.
• Built-in collaboration link: Clients could comment on each frame without creating an account, which trimmed email back-and-forth.
• Multiple export options: The PDF came annotated, while the PNG set dropped straight into Premiere as reference tracks.

Drawbacks

• Limited character consistency: The same detective gained and lost a moustache between scenes, so we still had to swap a few images manually.
• No audio notes field yet: We resorted to typing sound cues into the caption box, slightly cluttering the layout.
• Credit card required for the free trial: A couple of colleagues hesitated to test it because of that barrier.
• Mobile editing feels cramped: On a phone, dragging panels occasionally resulted in accidental deletes, making desktop the safer choice.

Why we’ll keep using it

Even with the quirks above, the time saved on every pitch deck outweighs the fixes we still perform. Storyboard Hero let us focus on storyline pacing rather than wrestling with thumbnail sketches, and clients appreciated seeing a stylised board during the very first meeting.
