Mimica is a cloud-based platform that records day-to-day computer actions and converts them into automation-ready process maps.

How to use Mimica

1. Create an account at mimica.ai and choose a workspace plan.
2. Download the lightweight recorder to the desktop where tasks will be captured.
3. Press “Record”, carry out the routine activity as normal, then stop the capture.
4. Wait a few minutes while Mimica analyses the clicks and keystrokes and presents a draft process map.
5. Fine-tune any step descriptions, then export the finished definition straight into your preferred RPA tool.

What we found while trialling Mimica

Advantages

• Quick task capture: Recording even lengthy back-office routines took less than ten minutes and felt completely unobtrusive.
• Accurate mapping: The generated flowcharts lined up with our manual documentation almost perfectly, saving hours of analyst work.
• Clean interface: Buttons, colours and menus stay consistent throughout, so new team members picked it up with minimal coaching.
• Export options: Direct connectors for UiPath and Blue Prism allowed us to move from discovery to bot building in one afternoon.
• Security controls: Field-level redaction hid customer data during playback, reassuring our compliance officer.

Drawbacks

• Windows only recorder: Colleagues on macOS had to borrow a spare laptop before they could contribute examples.
• Limited editing inside the tool: Complex branching required a jump into Visio or an RPA studio for final tweaks.
• Pricing transparency: The website lists tiers yet leaves enterprise quotes to sales calls, complicating budget approval.
• Bulk export delay: Sending more than five maps at once triggered a queue that slowed delivery by nearly an hour.

Overall impression

After two weeks of hands-on use, I felt that Mimica handled the dull legwork of process discovery better than any spreadsheet-driven method we have tried. The recorder stays out of the way, the automatic maps come back clear, and the jump from insight to bot build shrinks dramatically. A few platform gaps remain, yet the time saved on documentation already outweighs those snags for our automation team.
